Clothing
To ensure that you're comfortable for the run it is important to make sure that you wear the right attire.
To begin, you will have to wear your swimsuit, or clothes that you are comfortable being wet in. To add to that, you will need to wear a wetsuit overtop. If you have your own, bring it. If you don't have one, we have some that we can lend you. Overtop of the wetsuit, we have fleece tops and splash jackets to wear. You should bring some footwear that will stay on your feet while swimming. These might be some wetsuit boots, sandals or sports shoes. Do not bring flip-flops or crocs, as they will not stay on your feet. We also have some shoes available for those without.
We provide a place to change before and after your trip.
Medication
If you have any allergies or health concerns that require you to bring some medication on the river with you, please bring it to our attention in advance. The less surprises we have, the safer your trip will be.
On the Water
Depending on the grade of whitewater you would like to challenge, you will be required to perform different physical activities and we have to restrict who can come.
GRADE II
This is typically flat moving water with small rapids and waves about 1/2 a meter high. There could be small drops along the way, and there is always a clear path through. You should not be falling out of the raft on this run.
We have a minimum paddler age requirement of 5 years old for our single day trips and 7 years old for the multi-day excursions.
GRADE III
This water has bigger waves to about 1 meter high, and has rapids that have the odd must-make move. The water will be faster than on the Grade II, you will get wet and bounce around. Because of the size and speed of the water, you will be required to paddle to help move your raft safely through the rapids.
GRADE IV/V
Bigger water than Grade III, these rapids require paddlers to execute must-make moves. There are bigger wave, boulders and drops throughout this run. The risk of getting hurt if you fall out of the raft on this run is greater than the Grade III, so you will be required to paddle and leap around the raft. Having a certain degree of fitness will help you enjoy this run more.
This run is dangerous and demanding from the start. We require that our clients have previous Grade III or above rafting experience, or have run the Grade III section of the Mohaka with us first. You can contact us for more information on this, or a package deal.
